I sat in front of my locker debating what I would like to pack and what I would leave behind. I decided all I really wanted to leave this place with was the folder I had created and saved all my workouts in and my Bible. I thought to myself, “I would have never survived this without these two things.” At that moment something became very clear to me.
Thirteen months earlier I made a promise to myself that this was not going to be my legacy. This is NOT how I’m going out. I will use the next chapter of my life to do good, to help people. But until that moment I had not figured out how I would accomplish this. The next morning, I was released from prison. It would be time for me to begin working on that promise. “Lockdown Strength & Fitness” was launched.
When most hear the phrase “lockdown” they immediately think of the pandemic. When I hear it, I think of doors closing in. When you are in prison “lock-down” means return to your cells. It was there, during those lock down periods, that I came up with the training concept that would evolve into “Lockdown Strength & Fitness”.
When I was released from Prison, I was 52 years old and in the best shape of my life. Without access to any weight or gym equipment, I learned how to use body-weight exercises to build “functional strength.” The results changed my body completely. Thirteen months earlier, when I began my incarceration, I believed at the time that I was in great shape. I was 193 lbs. and stronger at 50 than I was at 25. I was strong and thick, but unknowingly was carrying excessive body fat. At the end of my 13-month journey, I was 20 pounds leaner and had built a lot of “functional strength” but also had lost a lot of physical size.
I took the power lifting/bodybuilding training I have done in the past and combined it with the Functional Strength work to develop the “lock-down training system.” One of the highlights of this principle is that it can be adapted to any situation. Whether you belong to a high-dollar full-service gym or are strictly working out of your living room it doesn’t matter. It can be adapted to ANY PERSON, of ANY AGE. From Top Athlete to Busy Parents. Male or Female. Using the “lockdown training system” principles, each and every program is specifically designed for you and your needs/goals, time, and resources available.
The training can range from a One-on-One in person training sessions to a 100% virtual session and everything else in between. All programs also include simple, practical eating and nutrition plans. Remember,
“If you want to get somewhere fast, go by yourself; if you want to go somewhere far, go with help.”
"It's never to late to improve yourself or your health."
